Job Title: Senior Staff Nurse

Job Summary:
Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking a Senior Staff Nurse for a healthcare facility in York. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, ensuring patient safety, and supervising the nursing team on a day-to-day basis.

Key Accountabilities:
Clinical:
- Lead an MDT, supporting a caseload of patients with an allocated key nurse, a co-worker HCA, and allocated MDT representatives.
- Manage an allocated lead area for the service, such as the management of self-harm, and maintain the clinic room in line with policies and procedures.
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care to all patients and their families.
- Act as a patient advocate, upholding privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Report identified issues by patients or their relatives promptly.
- Ensure high standards of infection control and prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Administer drugs and medications following local policies and procedures.
- Report significant nursing issues or concerns to the Clinical Manager.
- Follow all policies, procedures, guidelines, and work instructions related to clinical practice.
- Maintain effective working relationships and communication with hospital colleagues and consultants.
- Uphold a standard of confidentiality as per organisational requirements.
- Fulfill the requirements of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Children Act, as applicable.
Support:
- Supervise and manage nurses and HCA’s.
- Undertake monthly clinical supervision and appraisals.
- Attend organisational meetings and functions as required.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Report and address near-misses or non-compliances promptly.
Administrative:
- Document all nursing care on a timely basis, accurately reflecting the patient experience.
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in Health & Safety audits as required.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse.
- Completion of a Mentorship course.
- Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
- Skills and knowledge up to date with current nursing practice.
- Ability to plan care effectively.
- Ability to manage a personal caseload.
- Understanding of ongoing professional development requirements.
- Good communication skills - verbal & written.
- Understanding of private medicine and relevant legislative frameworks.
- Knowledge of clinical governance.
- Knowledge of NMC Code of Practice & the role of the CQC.
- Ensure mandatory training is attended.
- Maintain current awareness regarding nursing services.
- Post-registration experience.
- Previous experience of working with patients with an Eating Disorder.
- Working in a senior role.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiastic.
- Self-motivated and flexible.
