Main Duties:

  • Clinical Skills Proficiency: Show confidence and competence in clinical skills, including medication administration and gastrostomy feeds, with experience in caring for children with tracheostomies.
  • Support Continence Service: Assist the lead clinician in managing the children’s continence service.
  • Care Assessment and Planning: Perform comprehensive assessments and develop care plans based on the specific health needs of each child, including those using the continence service.
  • Regular Care Reviews: Review and update care plans at least annually or more frequently if necessary.
  • Referral Management: Make appropriate onward referrals when required.
  • Safeguarding Supervision: Attend safeguarding supervision at least once per term and additionally as needed.
  • Educational Setting Representation: Represent the school nursing team in educational settings.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend and contribute to annual educational reviews, child in need meetings, team around the child meetings, professionals meetings, child protection case conferences, and core group meetings, providing essential information to education and social services staff, as well as parents.
  • Infection Control Compliance: Follow infection control policies and procedures to minimise and prevent the spread of infection.

Requirements for the Senior Staff Nurserole:

  • Degree or equivalent in Nursing (RGN qualified) with active NMC Registration (Adult).
  • Recent nursing experience in the UK.
