Role Overview:
As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care across both acute and community services, with a focus on high-quality, patient-centered care. You will be responsible for coordinating care for a group of patients with a wide range of conditions, supporting junior staff, and providing guidance when needed. You may also take charge of the ward or team, ensuring leadership is provided when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the NMC Code (2015), maintaining trust and credibility with patients, carers, and colleagues while staying up to date with developments in nursing practice, and sharing knowledge to enhance care delivery.
  • Oversee patient care for specific groups or individuals, ensuring care plans are formulated to meet treatment goals, and delivering high-quality nursing care that adheres to best practice standards.
  • Be responsible for safeguarding the welfare of children, adults, and families in your care, ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies, and maintaining high-quality patient documentation and information.
  • Actively contribute to a therapeutic care environment and philosophy, providing mentorship and support to junior staff, encouraging continuous learning, and promoting team goals while working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and team management when required, supervising junior staff, and ensuring that high standards of care are maintained. Act as a role model in your clinical practice and contribute to the professional development of others.
  • Take responsibility for your professional development by engaging in continuous learning and seeking training opportunities, while supporting junior staff to identify their learning objectives and develop their skills.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, ensuring resource management and cost-effective use of resources, and maintaining awareness of budget constraints while managing departmental expenditure effectively.
  • Participate in clinical audits, infection control assessments, and quality improvement initiatives, helping to implement changes where needed and contributing to maintaining a safe and effective working environment.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • 1st Level Registered Nurse (Diploma or Degree)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience in a relevant clinical setting.
