Main Duties & Responsibilities:
As a Senior Staff Nurse, your role will involve leading and delivering high-quality patient care in the Acute Assessment Unit, with a focus on evidence-based practice and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include:
- Nursing Excellence: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the NMC Code (2015), ensuring that the care you provide maintains trust and credibility with patients, carers, and colleagues.
- Leadership & Development: Lead the coordination of care for patients, developing and implementing individual care plans that meet identified treatment goals. Share your clinical knowledge and experience to contribute to the development of a therapeutic and supportive care environment.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Stay current with developments in nursing practice and research, using this knowledge to improve patient care. Act as a role model by promoting best practices and delivering high-quality care.
- Clinical & Audit Standards: Contribute to the setting of clinical standards, participate in audits, and implement improvements to enhance the nursing service.
- Independence & Prescribing: Depending on your qualifications, you may have the opportunity to act as an independent or supplementary prescriber within specified clinical areas.
- Infection Control & Health Promotion: Lead by example in infection prevention, challenge poor practice, and incorporate health promotion into nursing practice.
- Safeguarding & Welfare: Take responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of all patients and families, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- 1st Level Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration.
- DipHE Degree in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent.
- Evidence of supervisor preparation study day and up-to-date knowledge in clinical, managerial, and educational aspects of nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Immediate Life Support (ILS) certifications.
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical and human factors in safe healthcare practice.
- Experience in the delivery of safe, patient-centred care.
- Understanding of governance, risk management, and the regulatory framework for healthcare practice.
- A passion for nursing excellence and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to act as a role model in the clinical environment.
