Are you a confident and experienced Neonatal Nurse ready to take on a challenging yet rewarding role? Sanctuary Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a leading healthcare provider in Guernsey, seeking a skilled nurse to join their dedicated team in a dynamic neonatal unit.
Role Overview:
As a Neonatal Nurse, you will be expected to work independently within the Neonatal Unit, confidently attending deliveries, initiating resuscitation, and supporting the medical team. Your expertise will be crucial in providing care to neonates at all levels of illness, sometimes as a lone worker.
Your responsibilities will include supporting junior staff and parents, with the potential to undertake air transfers after comprehensive training. Off-island placements may also be necessary to maintain your skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop neonatal care services, guiding the team and mentoring students.
- Maintain professional growth in clinical, educational, and leadership skills.
- Participate in air transfer and off-island training.
Clinical:
- Manage care plans for infants and families, providing resuscitation and stabilisation.
- Advocate for patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support.
- Lead teams in emergencies, utilizing data to inform decisions.
- Maintain communication with families and multidisciplinary teams.
Leadership & Management:
- Support staff recruitment and retention, and manage team performance.
- Promote a safe, efficient environment through audits and risk assessments.
- Coordinate staff shifts, policies, and professional development.
Communication:
- Ensure effective communication with families, staff, and the team.
- Manage conflicts and ensure professional, clear communication.
Audit/Research:
- Conduct clinical audits and contribute to evidence-based practice.
- Ensure proper documentation and use of electronic systems.
Revalidation:
- Maintain NMC registration, manage your Revalidation, and assist colleagues in theirs.
Essential Criteria:
- Registered Children’s Nurse or RN Child/RGN
- Diploma/Degree in a related field
- EMB 405 or equivalent
- NLS provider certification
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in neonatal nursing
Desirable Criteria:
- Leadership and/or management training
- Assessing and mentoring qualifications
- Evidence of child protection training
