Sanctuary Personnel is seeking a dedicated professional to join our client's adult disability service team, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism. This role offers a diverse working environment, including residential homes, supported living, short break services, and outreach teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and Care: Implement and evaluate programmes of care and support, promoting active participation of service users in daily activities such as cleaning, shopping, and cooking.
  • Team Leadership: Co-ordinate and lead a team, developing and implementing care programmes, and managing shift responsibilities.
  • Communication: Maintain professional relationships, support relatives and friends of service users, and liaise effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Clinical Duties: Manage crisis situations, maintain accurate records, safeguard service users, and adhere to professional standards and guidelines.
  • Health Promotion: Act as a health promoter and educator, participating in activities that promote health and wellbeing, such as horse riding, gym, and swimming.
  • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments to maximise opportunities for service users.
  • Medication Management: Administer and manage medication in line with organisational policies.

Training and Development

  • Supervision and Training: Participate in supervision, support junior staff, and engage in training to maintain and develop skills.
  • Appraisal and Development: Participate in annual appraisals, contribute to service development, and support the induction of new staff.
  • Leadership Experience: Gain experience in providing leadership, managing rotas, and handling incidents.

  • Health and Safety: Adhere to Health and Safety policies to ensure the welfare of service users, colleagues, and self.
  • Data Protection: Comply with Data Protection Law.
  • Revalidation: Maintain effective registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), managing revalidation requirements proactively.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Registered Health or Social Care Professional (e.g., Nurse, Speech and Language Therapist, OT, Registered Behaviour Technician, or Social Worker) or a Degree in Health and Social Care with experience in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism.
  • Skills: Good IT skills, excellent verbal and written communication, leadership abilities, and a caring, empathetic nature.
  • Licences: A valid driving licence (flexibility can be applied by the manager).
