Sanctuary Personnel is excited to present an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Staff Nurse to join our client's Outpatients team. This role allows you to work across a wide variety of specialisms, helping you to develop your clinical skills in a modern and supportive environment.

Job Overview

As a Staff Nurse in the Outpatients department, you will collaborate closely with medical and surgical teams across various specialities, assisting with patient assessments and treatments. You will also manage post-operative wound care independently in their daily nurse-led dressings clinic. If you are NMC registered with a minimum of 2 years of experience, are compassionate, and have strong communication skills, we would love to hear from you.

Job Purpose

This role spans various clinical areas within acute and community services. You will plan and deliver effective and competent care, staying fully aware of patients' needs and driving standards in patient care. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to ensure continuity in patient care, acting as a role model for colleagues, patients, and relatives. Additionally, you will supervise Healthcare Assistants, providing guidance and training as appropriate.

Statutory Responsibilities

You will be responsible for safeguarding and the welfare of all children, adults, and families within your care. Compliance with all safeguarding policies and procedures is mandatory.

  • Maintain a professional portfolio demonstrating continuous skill acquisition, knowledge, attitudes, understanding, and achievements.
  • Coordinate care for specified patients or groups, ensuring high-quality patient care through effective care plans.
  • Enhance nursing practice through evidence-based practice, participating in clinical audits, and setting and maintaining clinical standards.
  • Perform investigations and treatments proficiently according to defined standards and act as an independent and supplementary prescriber within specific clinical areas if required.
  • Provide high-quality advice to patients, carers, and colleagues, incorporating health promotion themes into nursing practice.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and produce high-quality patient information.
  • Lead and direct the team when required, working collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team and promoting team goals.
  • Participate in Performance Review and Appraisal Systems, taking responsibility for lifelong learning.
  • Assist junior staff in identifying and meeting learning objectives using teaching and learning principles.
  • Contribute to the physical environment and development of the Risk Management Plan for the area.
  • Participate in ongoing infection control audits within the clinical area.

Qualifications

  • Essential: 1st level Registered Nurse with NMC registration.
  • Desirable: Commitment to work towards a Level 2 vocational award in health and social care, and a Teaching and Mentorship qualification.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Essential: 2 years post-qualification experience in general nursing and thorough knowledge of the NMC Code (2015).

Technical Work-Based Skills

  • Essential: Wound care experience.
  • Desirable: Ability to manage risks and complaints.

General Skills / Attributes

  • Essential: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, basic keyboard/IT skills.
