The salary for this permanent Senior Staff Nurse job is £48,986.64 - £55,293.84 per annum.

What You'll Do:

  • Patient Care Excellence: Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to children and young people, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating their needs with compassion and precision.
  • Clinical Leadership: Act as a role model for junior staff, supporting their development through supervision and mentorship while ensuring clinical standards are consistently met.
  • Advocacy and Support: Serve as an advocate for patients and their families, providing essential information, directing them to appropriate support services, and ensuring their voices are heard.
  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold the highest standards of patient safety and safeguarding, adhering to policies and procedures, and proactively managing risks.
  • Effective Communication: Deliver complex and sensitive information to patients, families, and colleagues, ensuring clarity and providing support during challenging times.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development, staying updated with the latest advancements in paediatric nursing and contributing to service improvements.
  • Emergency Care: Participate in scheduled and emergency flight transfers for off-island treatment, demonstrating adaptability and clinical expertise.

Requirements of the Senior Staff Nurse:

  • NMC Registered Paediatric Nurse
  • Paediatric/Children’s Nursing Degree or equivalent experience
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Safeguarding Level 3 Qualification
  • Clinical Skills qualifications (e.g., BFI, cannulation & venepuncture)
  • Student Supervisor and Assessor qualification
  • Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS)
  • Strong understanding of paediatric nursing issues and child protection
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic patient record systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work calmly under pressure
