The salary for this permanent Ward Manager job is £55,000 - £60,000 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Oversee the department's operations to meet key performance indicators, ensuring its efficient and safe functioning.
  • Provide leadership and management to the in-patient services team, including responsibilities for recruitment, induction, mandatory training, performance reviews, personal development planning, and handling disciplinary and grievance matters. Ensure that staff personal files are maintained, accurate, and up to date, including records of annual leave, training, and absences.
  • Address and manage patient complaints and feedback in accordance with company policy.
  • Implement and manage effective stock control systems, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines, optimising usage, and coordinating with the Finance Manager for proper ordering processes.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of departmental performance, and develop and execute action plans based on the findings.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Team to enhance services and achieve targets, including efforts to attract new Consultants.
  • Foster strong working relationships with external organisations to standardise practices and share best practices.
  • Ensure that Clinical Governance and risk management principles are integrated into daily operations.

Requirements of the Ward Manager:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with a valid NMC pin.
  • Experience working in an acute care setting is essential.
  • Proven experience as a Clinical Manager, preferably within a busy surgical ward.
  • Demonstrates a high level of competence across various clinical skills, backed by professional knowledge acquired through state registration and further specialised training.
  • Ideally, experience in a similar private hospital environment.
  • Previous experience at the Ward Manager level is required, as you will be expected to step into the role with immediate impact.
