The salary for this permanent Deputy Ward Manager job is £46,014 per annum.

Main Duties:
- Implement Policies and Statutory Requirements: Apply relevant policies and statutory regulations within the ward and hospital governance framework, ensuring these requirements are communicated effectively to the wider team.
- Manage Risk: Assess and manage risks within both the immediate and broader working environment, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Promote Equality and Diversity: Uphold and model the principles of equality and diversity, promoting these values across the team and ensuring they are integrated into all aspects of care.
- Address Staffing and Skill Mix: Identify any gaps in skill mix and safe staffing levels, and take proactive steps to address these issues to ensure optimal team functionality and patient care.
- Supervise and Develop Team Members: Supervise a designated group of team members, contributing to their continuous professional development (CPD), mandatory training, and appraisal process. Address any performance issues that fall below expected standards.
- Foster a Culture of Learning: Serve as a role model in promoting a culture of continuous learning, development, and inquiry. Inspire and lead the team towards a shared vision and commitment to excellence.
- Implement and Evaluate Interventions: Oversee the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of therapeutic interventions within the overall care programme. Support individuals with mental health and/or learning disabilities in developing effective coping strategies.
- Support Collaborative Problem Solving: Engage in collaborative problem-solving with clients, encouraging them to take ownership of their issues, identify problems, and develop solutions based on their own needs and preferences.
- Assess and Address Risks: Contribute to the collaborative assessment and management of risks related to harm, danger, and abuse, ensuring that appropriate actions are taken.
- Fulfil Nursing Roles: Act as the named nurse for a small group of patients, serve as an Associate Nurse for colleagues during your shifts, and take on regular responsibilities as a shift leader.
Requirements of the Deputy Ward Manager:
- Registration as a First level Registered Nurse (RMN).
- Essential clinical supervision experience; training in this area is desirable.
- A commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and leadership enhancement.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Experience in Acute Mental Health.
- A minimum of 3 years, or equivalent, post-registration experience.
- Mentorship skills are desirable, though training could be provided.
