Main Duties:

  • Assist the Ward Manager with the daily management and supervision of the ward, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to protocols.
  • Support the Ward Manager in overseeing and supervising a team of registered and unregistered staff, ensuring effective collaboration and performance.
  • Implement best practices throughout the ward, promoting high standards of care and consistency in service delivery.
  • Facilitate and support service changes, ensuring a smooth transition and continuous improvement in care quality.
  • Provide clinical leadership for the service, guiding the team in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Contribute to the delivery of personalised care and actively participate in initiatives aimed at service improvement.
  • Support and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure integrated and effective patient care.
  • Implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions within the broader care programme, ensuring they meet the needs of individual patients.
  • Assist the Ward Manager in ensuring that care and treatment provided meet regulatory standards, maintaining compliance with all relevant guidelines and policies.

Requirements of the Deputy Ward Manager:

  • Current NMC Registration with up-to-date Revalidation.
  • Certified Mentor with experience in clinical supervision (training in clinical supervision is advantageous).
  • Demonstrated commitment to Continued Professional Development (CPD) with a clear intent to further develop professional skills and leadership abilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in computer skills and familiar with relevant software.
  • Experience in Mental Health or Learning Disability services is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years' post-registration experience or equivalent in a relevant field.
