Staff Nurse – Emergency Department - Guernsey

The salary for this Staff Nurse position is £36,899 - £47,590 per annum.

What You’ll Do:

  • Patient-Centred Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate personalised care plans for patients in alignment with the ward's philosophy.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Supervise and support the development of junior and newly qualified nurses, helping them grow their skills and confidence under your mentorship.
  • Clinical Excellence: Act as a role model in delivering evidence-based nursing practice, adhering to established protocols, including those within the Royal Marsden Manual of Clinical Nursing Procedures.
  • Collaborative Approach: Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver the best outcomes for patients, ensuring effective communication at all times.
  • Health and Safety: Follow health and safety policies and procedures, safeguarding patients and staff and ensuring the safe use of equipment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing the care of a group of patients, ensuring clinical excellence across all areas of practice.
  • Supporting new staff members through orientation and ongoing training.
  • Supervising and providing guidance to unqualified and newly qualified nursing staff.
  • Contributing to a positive patient experience by ensuring a caring and compassionate approach in all interactions.
  • Participating in clinical supervision and mentorship programmes, developing both your own skills and those of the wider team.
  • Maintaining professional registration and meeting all revalidation requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Registered Nurse (NMC registered) with strong clinical knowledge and a commitment to professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ensuring clarity and understanding in high-pressure situations.
  • Organisational skills with the ability to manage time and prioritise tasks efficiently in a busy department.
  • A team player who works effectively both independently and collaboratively, always ensuring the highest standard of care is delivered.

Desirable Skills:

  • Cannulation and venepuncture skills.
  • Experience with plastering and splinting.
  • ECG provision.
  • Mentorship qualification or a willingness to undertake relevant training.
