The salary for this permanent Lead Nurse job is £42,000 - £43,0per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Ensure that all legal obligations under the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act are fully met.
  • Uphold NMC standards by ensuring the nursing team consistently follows all guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Manager and medical staff to conduct specialised assessments, facilitate patient admissions, and manage discharges.
  • Oversee the administration and secure handling of medications, ensuring that all staff comply with established safety protocols.
  • Ensure that all team members are knowledgeable about and adhere to the individual care plans of patients.
  • Take the lead in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care and risk management for patients with complex needs, while mentoring and supporting colleagues in these tasks.
  • Offer expert advice to contribute to the comprehensive care of patients.
  • Facilitate and manage Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings when necessary.
  • Provide supervision, conduct appraisals, and manage key working responsibilities for the nursing team.
  • Assist the Hospital Director in implementing and maintaining key policies, including those related to clinical supervision, disciplinary procedures, recruitment, and attendance.
  • Conduct and oversee clinical audits, such as those related to patient documentation and staff performance, and ensure that appropriate actions are taken based on audit findings.
  • Prepare and submit reports and other relevant information to the Senior Leadership Team as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records for patients and staff under your supervision throughout each shift.

Requirements of the Lead Nurse

  • Must hold an active NMC registration with full practice rights and a solid grasp of NICE guidelines.
  • Proven experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Skilled in supporting individuals with Dementia.
  • Previous experience as a practising nurse.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a nursing role.
  • Strong people management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in managing sensitive situations.
