What will you be doing?
- Lead and manage the Biochemistry department, ensuring effective service delivery for a range of clinical disciplines.
- Maintain financial accountability within the department.
- Oversee the management of non-clinical staff, equipment, and consumables.
- Ensure the highest standards of quality assurance and quality control in testing processes.
- Ensure compliance with key accreditations (UKAS, MHRA, HTA, etc.) and regulatory requirements (HSE, GDPR, etc.).
- Oversee staffing allocation to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient services.
- Manage performance reviews, training, and development for staff.
- Develop and maintain departmental documentation and procedures.
- Monitor key quality indicators, including turnaround times.
What do you need?
- HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- 6-7 years of post-registration experience in a relevant clinical discipline.
- MSc level qualification and/or IBMS Specialist Diploma or equivalent.
- FIBMS/Chartered Scientist status (or equivalent experience).
- Management qualification is desirable, or a willingness to work towards this.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing staff and resources.
