Main Duties:
- Lead a team performing advanced microbiological analyses to guide clinical diagnoses and treatments.
- Manage lab workflows, ensuring quick turnaround times while maintaining best practice standards.
- Mentor and support team members, ensuring accurate reporting of infections and test results.
- Oversee lab equipment and methodologies, ensuring they remain current and meet quality standards.
- Act as the lead specialist for lab areas such as audit, supplier management, and new technique implementation.
- Collaborate with off-island professionals, offering guidance on clinical practices and new developments.
- Ensure quality assurance, conducting audits and maintaining accreditation standards.
- Train and assess junior staff, fostering continuous professional development and a culture of learning.
- Supervise documentation, ensuring compliance with safety and quality protocols.
Requirements:
- IBMS specialist diploma in medical microbiology or virology, or equivalent qualification.
- BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Science, accredited by IBMS or equivalent.
- HCPC and Jersey Care Commission registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Strong knowledge in infection science, laboratory practices, and risk management.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years in microbiology.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
