What you will do:

  • Deputise for the Head of Governance as needed.
  •  Provide strong leadership to ensure a patient-focused quality governance agenda is established and effectively communicated to the Senior Management Team.
  •  Embed quality and risk management practices throughout the laboratory by offering advice, support, and guidance on all quality governance aspects.
  •  Support effective and transparent complaint management in line with legislation, ensuring a culture of openness and learning.
  • Foster robust relationships with key stakeholders, developing a quality assurance and monitoring system.
  • Offer strategic leadership and direction within the governance team, supporting the Head of Governance.
  • Deliver professional and reliable Health and Safety advice at the operational level by ensuring resource availability.
  •  Lead root cause analysis for serious incidents and develop mechanisms for learning to promote a patient-focused culture.
  • Advise the Senior Leadership Team on high-risk incidents affecting patient or staff safety and organisational reputation.
  • Maintain and utilise risk registers to advance the organisation's strategy and support the Corporate Governance Framework.
  • Promote risk control and prevention strategies that integrate risk management practices into management.
  • Oversee the implementation and development of CQC standards, working with relevant teams to ensure understanding and ownership.
  • Provide training, performance monitoring, and assurance processes to track progress and achievements.
  •  Ensure all compliance schemes are fully embedded and monitored across the laboratories.
  • Review national guidance and legislation to support governance assurance frameworks.
  • Support implementation of business continuity and health, safety, and wellbeing policies applicable to the laboratory division.


What you will bring:

  • Extensive experience as a Laboratory Quality Manager.
  • Expertise in risk management and laboratory health and safety.
  •  Knowledge of ISO15189, ISO15190, and ISO22367.
  • Qualification in Laboratory Quality Management.
  • HCPC registration is desirable.
