We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant in Stroke Medicine to join a dynamic NHS Trust in Carlisle. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping stroke and frailty services while advancing your career in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Service Development: Work with colleagues to develop an acute frailty pathway and further enhance frailty services.
- Teaching & Mentorship: Provide teaching and training for Junior Doctors, Medical Students, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Act as an educational or clinical supervisor to Junior Doctors in training.
- Clinical Care: Deliver expert clinical care in Stroke Medicine and geriatrics, ensuring high standards of patient outcomes.
- Research & Development: Participate in clinical trials and engage in research/teaching initiatives, contributing to innovative medical advancements.
- Leadership & Administration:
- Collaborate with specialist teams and professional colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Undertake administrative duties related to patient care and clinical operations.
- Assist in preparing business plans and support the Booked Appointment Systems.
- Continuing Professional Development:
- Engage in personal development and mandatory training activities.
- Participate in Consultant appraisal, job plan reviews, and the revalidation process.
- Attend clinical meetings and post-graduate activities within the Trust.
Requirements:
- Registration: Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and Specialist Registration in Geriatrics and General Internal Medicine (GIM).
- Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or equivalent.
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Geriatrics or evidence of equivalent competency. (CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview.)
- High level of clinical expertise and experience in Geriatrics and GIM.
- Proven ability to take full and independent responsibility for patient care.
- Strong communication skills with patients, colleagues, and managers.
- Ability to manage both elective and emergency patient care efficiently.
