Key Responsibilities:
- Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and immunotherapy, closely monitoring patients during their treatments to ensure safety and efficacy.
- Serve as a primary care nurse by assessing patients and families, formulating individualized care plans, and evaluating outcomes.
- Collaborate with Oncologists, Pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to gather patient histories, collect specimens, and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Provide education to patients and families on treatment plans, potential side effects, and follow-up care.
- Maintain clear communication with the Clinical Manager/Nurse in Charge, updating them on any changes or challenges.
- Actively participate in unit Quality Improvement initiatives and contribute to approved research projects.
- Mentor and support junior staff as a preceptor and role model.
- Engage in committees, staff meetings, and continuing education programs to support professional growth.
- Perform additional nursing duties and delegated medical tasks as required.
Qualifications & Registration Required:
- Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution.
- Current registration with the Bermuda Nursing Council.
- Minimum of two years of post-graduate experience as an Oncology Nurse administering chemotherapy.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or ONC™ certification is preferred.
- Chemotherapy Biotherapy certification is highly desirable.
- Strong intravenous skills, including starting, maintaining, and troubleshooting IV access; experience with implanted ports is essential.
