Key Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse in the Medical/Surgical Admin Team, you will:

  • Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and immunotherapy, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout treatments.
  • Act as a primary care nurse by assessing patient and family needs, developing tailored care plans, and implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with Oncologists, Pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to gather patient histories, collect specimens, evaluate treatment outcomes, and provide education on treatment plans and follow-up care.
  • Monitor and report patient status and progress to the Clinical Manager or Nurse in Charge.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities and contribute to approved research projects to enhance patient care.
  • Serve as a preceptor and role model for junior staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-services, and educational programmes to remain informed and engaged.
  • Perform additional nursing and delegated medical tasks as required to support the team and ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Qualifications & Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Current registration with the Bermuda Nursing Council (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Experience: A minimum of two years’ post-graduate experience as an Oncology Nurse, including administering chemotherapy.
  • Certifications:
  • Required: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
  • Preferred:
  • Oncology Clinical Nurse Certification (ONC™) or Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification.
  • Chemotherapy Biotherapy certification.
  • Skills:
  • Advanced intravenous skills, including starting, maintaining, and troubleshooting intravenous access.
  • Proficiency with implanted ports and other specialised oncology procedures.
