Role Overview:

As the Occupational Health Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the day-to-day operations of the Occupational Health Service. Your expertise will ensure the delivery of high standards in health surveillance, assessment, and promotion, while fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture. You will work closely with a valued client (a leading provider of occupational health services) to meet their specific needs and deliver exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Occupational Health Service, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead and develop a proactive, high-profile Occupational Health Service.
  • Conduct health surveillance, including audiometry, spirometry, and fitness-for-work assessments.
  • Deliver tailored health education and promotion initiatives.
  • Manage cases both in person and remotely, producing detailed management advice reports.
  • Respond to requests for support and information regarding the working environment.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training to team members, particularly less experienced staff.
  • Support and guide Occupational Health Nurse Advisors, monitoring their progress.
  • Assist the Occupational Health Manager with assessing and advising on clinical practices within the team.
  • Lead defined projects to enhance the delivery of high-quality, effective care.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with NMC guidelines and maintain valid NMC registration.
  • Foster a respectful and inclusive workplace, free from harassment and bullying.
  • Collaborate with the wider OH team to design and implement health promotion initiatives.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, managers, and other professionals.
  • Conduct regular appraisals of team members, identifying and addressing training needs.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Nursing Qualification: Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN.
  • Specialized Training: A diploma or degree in Occupational Health (desirable).
  • Professional Registration: NMC/HCPC registration.
  • Relevant Experience: Proven experience in a commercial occupational health setting.
  • Case Management Skills: Strong background in case management and health surveillance.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of occupational health and employment legislation.
  • Professional Accountability: Clear grasp of your scope of practice.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Teams.
