The salary for this permanent Occupational Health Advisor job is £40,000 per annum.

Main Duties:

Role Overview: You will oversee the day-to-day management of the Occupational Health Service, ensuring high standards of health surveillance, assessment, and promotion. Your role involves managing and supporting the Occupational Health team, delivering expert advice, and fostering a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the Occupational Health Service, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead the development and delivery of a proactive and high-profile Occupational Health Service.
  • Conduct health surveillance, including audiometry, spirometry, and fitness-for-work assessments.
  • Provide health education and promotion tailored to client needs.
  • Perform case management both over the phone and in person, producing high-quality management advice reports.
  • Respond to client and manager requests for support and information regarding the working environment.
  • Offer clinical supervision to team members, especially those with less experience.
  • Supporting Occupational Health Nurse advisors by providing training and monitoring their progress.
  • Assist the Occupational Health Manager in advising, monitoring, and assessing the clinical practice of the OH team.
  • Develop and implement defined projects to enhance the delivery of high-quality, clinically effective care.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Ensure valid and up-to-date registration with the NMC, adhering to NMC guidelines for professional and clinical supervision.
  • Promote equality of opportunity and maintain an environment that respects the dignity of individuals, free from harassment and bullying.
  • Collaborate with the wider OH team to design and implement health promotion initiatives
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, managers, and other professionals.
  • Provide regular appraisals to Occupational Health employees, identifying and addressing training and development needs.

Requirements of the Occupational Health Advisor:

  • Qualified or Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN.
  • A diploma or degree in Occupational Health is desirable.
  • NMC/HCPC registration
  • Proven experience in a commercial occupational health setting.
  • Strong background in case management and health surveillance.
  • Comprehensive understanding of occupational health and employment legislation.
  • Clear grasp of professional accountability within the scope of practice.
  • IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office 365 and Teams.
