Job Title: Band 6 Deputy Manager - Autism Hub/Adult Disability Service

Sanctuary Personnel are seeking a dedicated professional to join our client's adult disability service, supporting individuals with learning disabilities across various settings including residential homes, supported living, short break services, and outreach teams. The role requires working within a shift system providing 24-hour support.
You will engage in all aspects of maintaining the service area using the active support model, encouraging service users to participate in activities such as cleaning, shopping, washing, ironing, and cooking. A valid driving licence is required, although some flexibility may be offered.
As a Band 6 professional, you will coordinate and lead a team, and develop and implement care and support programs.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Assess service users with complex needs and develop, implement, and evaluate care programs.
- Guide, advise, and direct staff in care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Undertake risk assessments to identify and mitigate risks to service users' health and wellbeing.
- Lead a staff team in emergencies, ensuring service user needs are met and significant others are supported.
- Utilize information from various sources to identify service user needs and guide decision-making.
- Act in accordance with regulatory standards, codes, and guidelines.
- Promote service user involvement in care planning, delivery, and evaluation.
- Safeguard service users following organisational policies and guidelines.
Training and Education:
- Promote health and wellbeing for service users and their significant others.
- Supervise staff and act as a mentor to students and other learners.
- Foster an environment conducive to quality learning and assessment.
- Develop learning programs to meet the educational needs of all staff.
- Maintain your professional development and competence in skills related to service users' needs.
- Undertake annual mandatory training.
Leadership/Managerial:
- Contribute to recruitment and retention of team members.
- Coordinate a team, ensuring effective communication and addressing work-related issues.
- Ensure team awareness of organizational objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct professional development reviews and support staff performance.
- Serve as a professional role model, promoting high standards of practice and values.
- Assist with roster planning and liaise with the manager on administrative and operational matters.
- Participate in budget management and business plan implementation.
- Act up in the manager's absence.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with service users and significant others, considering cultural backgrounds and cognitive functioning.
- Communicate clearly with multidisciplinary team members, respecting cultural and language differences.
- Manage conflicts between individuals, including staff and service users.
- Advocate for service users and significant others.
- Ensure written communications comply with organisational and professional standards.
Audit/Information Technology/Research Activity:
- Initiate and conduct clinical audits to monitor and maintain practice standards.
- Manage incident reporting systems and document potential risks to service quality.
- Promote evidence-based practice and lead in practice development.
- Access relevant electronic information systems.
Revalidation:
- Maintain effective registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) as per legal and procedural requirements.
- Manage all aspects of your revalidation, maintaining an up-to-date portfolio, and seeking opportunities for reflection and professional growth.
- Support colleagues with their revalidation, including teaching, providing feedback, and participating in professional discussions.
- Escalate any support needs related to revalidation to senior staff promptly.
Key Criteria:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse or Social Worker.
- Evidence of CPD at diploma level.
Full Qualifications:
- Teaching/mentoring qualification.
- Diploma in a related field.
- Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement or equivalent.
Essential:
