Main Duties:

  • Perform and report adult trans-thoracic echocardiograms in accordance with the BSE minimum data set and local reporting guidelines.
  • Provide expert clinical guidance through our second opinion rota, ensuring adherence to reporting guidelines during clinical peer reviews.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on equipment and take appropriate actions.
  • Submit reports and archive study images following contractual requirements and local Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Coordinate with hospital departments and GP practices for urgent clinical referrals.
  • Assist with patient bookings and maintain patient information systems.

Requirements of the Chief Cardiac Physiologist:

  • Proven experience in performing and reporting adult transthoracic echocardiograms to BSE standards
  • BSE accreditation (or equivalent)
  • Valid full UK driving license
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Data Protection Act, Information Governance Statement of Compliance, and Caldicott Principles
  • Openness to new thinking and technologies
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development
