Your Role and Responsibilities:
As an ICU Nurse, you will play a critical role in delivering life-saving care while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Patient Care: Provide direct and comprehensive care to critically ill patients with complex medical needs.
  • Decision-Making: Exhibit exceptional judgement and critical thinking in high-pressure situations.
  • Care Planning: Utilise the nursing process to develop, implement, and evaluate patient-specific care plans.
  • Advocacy: Act as a strong advocate for patients, ensuring effective communication between families and healthcare teams.
  • Collaboration: Participate in multidisciplinary patient care conferences to optimise outcomes.
  • Leadership: Assume in-charge duties and guide support personnel as required.
  • Resource Management: Use medical equipment and supplies efficiently and safely.
  • Professional Development: Commit to continuous learning through education programmes, professional literature, and active participation in nursing organisations.

Qualifications and Registration Requirements

  • Education: Registered Nurse qualification with a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution.
  • Specialisation: Certification in Critical Care Nursing (required). Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred.
  • Experience: At least two years of recent, continuous ICU nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Licensure: Current registration with the Bermuda Nursing Council (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Certifications:
    • Required: AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and IV Therapy.
    • Preferred: Additional specialisation in critical care nursing.
  • Skills: Strong physical assessment skills and advanced clinical competencies.
