Key Responsibilities
As a Dialysis Nurse, you will provide specialised care to patients undergoing treatment for kidney-related conditions. Your key responsibilities include:
- Hemodialysis Treatments: Initiate, monitor, and manage dialysis treatments for patients, ensuring safety and efficacy throughout.
- Patient Care: Act as a primary care nurse, assessing patient and family needs, developing care plans, and implementing interventions to achieve positive outcomes.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to evaluate patient progress, ensuring the Clinical Manager or Nurse in Charge is informed of any concerns.
- Leadership: Take charge when required, efficiently managing clinical, hospital, and community resources.
- Quality Improvement: Contribute to unit Quality Improvement activities and approved research projects to enhance patient care standards.
- Mentorship: Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and role model for junior staff and peers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Resource Management: Safely and economically use medical equipment and supplies.
- Engagement: Participate actively in committees, staff meetings, in-services, and educational programs to stay updated on best practices.
- Additional Duties: Perform other nursing and delegated medical tasks as required to support patient care.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Current registration with the Bermuda Nursing Council or eligibility to obtain.
- Experience: A minimum of two years’ recent post-graduate experience as a Dialysis Nurse.
- Certifications:
- Required: CPR certification.
- Preferred: ACLS certification.
- Proven expertise in physical assessment and dialysis procedures.
- Completion of a formal dialysis course is a significant asset.
