The salary for this permanent Theatre Anaesthetic Practitioner  job is £32,000 - £36,000 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Preparation of Operating Theatre: Prepare the operating theatre and anaesthetic room for surgical procedures by setting up necessary instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. Ensure all items are arranged according to the specific requirements of each operative procedure, while minimising waste and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and organisation
  • Theatre Management: Efficiently manage and run a theatre list independently, ensuring smooth operation and timely execution of surgical procedures. Coordinate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to ensure all aspects of the theatre environment support optimal patient care and safety.
  • Supervision and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and knowledge. Offer feedback and conduct training sessions as needed, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.
  • Anaesthetic Duties: Perform anaesthetic duties as required, including preparing and administering anaesthetic agents and monitoring patients throughout the anaesthesia process to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Skill Development: Take advantage of opportunities to enhance your skills and expertise by participating in a variety of surgical procedures. Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with the latest techniques and best practices in the field.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the surgical team, including surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the surgical process.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, infection control protocols, and operational procedures to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

Requirements of the Theatre Anaesthetic Practitioner:

  • Qualifications: Must be a qualified Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Nurse with an Anaesthetic Module.
  • Professional Registration: Current registration with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) or HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) with no restrictions on your pin.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in anaesthetics. Experience in recovery is desirable.
  • Work Background: Prior employment in a surgical or theatre setting is required.
  • Personal Attributes: Highly motivated with a proven ability to work effectively in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
