Job Overview

Sanctuary Personnel are recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Grade 5 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our client's friendly and supportive team. They are seeking a candidate with at least 2 years of nursing experience who is committed to joining and supporting a new medical ward and passionate about delivering quality patient care. The successful post holder will have excellent communication and leadership skills, working closely and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team. Job Purpose

This role spans various clinical areas within acute and community services. The post holder will plan, deliver, and evaluate care for patients with diverse conditions, contributing to the advancement of clinical service by developing skills and expertise in key areas. Collaborating with colleagues across departments to ensure continuity in patient care, the post holder will act as a role model for colleagues, patients, and relatives. This experienced practitioner will support the clinical manager in providing professional leadership and will contribute to the development of clinical services through involvement in standard-setting and evidence-based practice. Nurses at this level will support their managers across a range of clinical and managerial responsibilities.

Job Specific Outcomes

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the guidelines of the NMC Code (2015) to maintain trust and credibility with patients, carers, and colleagues.
  • Contribute significantly to a specialty service by developing effective clinical leadership skills and staying fully updated on developments within the professional discipline.
  • Support the clinical manager in providing professional leadership to the department or community team, enhancing nursing practice and creating a constructive working and learning environment.
  • Lead in planning the overall organisation of patient care, directing the care team to deliver high-quality care programs within the service area.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and produce high-quality client information using appropriate IT skills.
  • Assist the manager in auditing the effectiveness of the service, ensuring complaints are addressed promptly and effectively, and proper investigations are carried out to reduce incidence.
  • Contribute to budget management by ensuring cost-effective use of resources and promoting a “value for money” culture.
  • Develop and maintain an education plan for the team and self, ensuring all staff participate in the Performance Review and Assessment system with up-to-date personal development plans.
  • Promote a culture of openness, reporting, and safety consciousness, demonstrating effective change implementation and risk reduction actions.
  • Plan and implement ongoing audits of infection control within the clinical area, ensuring adherence to infection prevention principles.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and welfare of all individuals under care, complying with all safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional portfolio demonstrating continuous skills, knowledge, attitudes, understanding, and achievements acquisition.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • 1st Level Registered Nurse
  • NMC Registration

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of local policies
  • Teaching/Mentorship/Assessment of Learning in Practice or equivalent module/award/qualification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

  • Professional clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Keyboard skills

General Skills and Attributes

Essential:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients
  • 2 years post-qualifying experience in a specialty area
