Key Responsibilities
As an Emergency Nurse, you will:

  • Deliver direct patient care safely and efficiently, managing a wide range of cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate exceptional decision-making and critical-thinking skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans for patients using the nursing process.
  • Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring clear communication between patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Participate in patient care conferences and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Utilise clinical, hospital, and community resources effectively.
  • Handle equipment and supplies responsibly to maintain safety and cost efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor support personnel, providing guidance and direction as needed.
  • Assume in-charge duties as required, demonstrating leadership in the Emergency Department.
  • Commit to professional development through continuing education, reviewing current literature, and participating in professional organisations.

Qualifications & Requirements
To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Current registration with the Bermuda Nursing Council (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of two years’ recent, continuous experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department.
  • Certifications:
    • Required: American Heart Association (AHA) certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • Preferred: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification from the Emergency Nurses Association and Nursing Specialty Certification in Emergency Nursing.
  • Strong physical assessment skills and clinical competencies.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
