Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to provide high-quality legal advice and representation on complex children and family law matters for Manchester and Salford City Councils. This role is full-time, temporary, and offers a unique opportunity to work on significant legal projects while contributing to the professional development of the legal service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, strategic, and high-quality legal advice on complex children and family law matters.
- Manage a caseload of high-value and sensitive legal work with minimal supervision.
- Undertake advocacy in contested proceedings, representing the council effectively.
- Draft and prepare legal documents to a high professional standard.
- Collaborate with council teams to ensure effective outcomes and compliance with legal obligations.
- Research law and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal developments.
- Mentor and support junior legal staff when required.
- Deliver staff and client training as needed.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will:
- Be a practising barrister, solicitor, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (FCILEX) with an Advocacy Certificate if applicable.
- Have extensive experience handling complex children and family law cases, including safeguarding and planning for children.
- Possess strong advocacy, negotiation, and analytical skills, with the ability to provide pragmatic legal solutions.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to present complex legal advice in a clear manner.
- Be IT literate and capable of managing a diverse workload with competing priorities.
