Main Duties:

  • Undertake a wide range of specialist and complex clinical procedures, including the administration of intravenous, oral, and/or rectal drugs to patients.
  • Work independently within your scope of practice, demonstrating a high level of expertise, particularly in distressing forensic imaging when required.
  • Assess, interpret, and report on complex examinations from various imaging sources, taking responsibility for decision-making that directly impacts patient management and treatment.
  • Provide care for patients with complex needs, ensuring special care and attention when performing intimate examinations, and managing safeguarding referrals when necessary.
  • Interpret and implement national policies and guidelines within your specialist area, working with the Modality Manager to develop and implement risk assessments.
  • Lead clinical audits, recommend improvements based on evidence, and present findings to peers and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification in chest reporting (and MSK reporting preferred), or a willingness to work towards achieving a Master’s degree and SOR accreditation.
  • BSc (Hon) in Radiography or an equivalent healthcare or science degree.
  • Postgraduate qualification in one or more Radiographer Reporting disciplines (minimum specialist qualification) or a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (minimum specialist qualification).
  • HCPC registration (required for all radiographers).
  • Extensive knowledge of medical conditions, pathology, normal appearances, and developmental variants in relation to the specialist modality.
  • Highly specialised knowledge of various radiography examinations.
