Sanctuary Personnel is seeking a knowledgeable Ecological Officer for a part-time interim position based in Kirklees, offering a pay rate of £18.53 per hour. This role is ideal for candidates with strong expertise in biodiversity, ecology, and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) to support a small planning team while processing outstanding planning applications. This interim role will span 3-6 months and provides essential ecological insights and BNG support to aid recruitment for a permanent post.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ecological/Biodiversity Expertise: Provide expert advice on biodiversity and ecological considerations for planning applications, offering guidance to colleagues, applicants, agents, and developers.
- BNG Compliance: Ensure compliance with the Environment Act and mandatory requirements related to BNG, effectively applying knowledge in this area throughout the planning process.
- Planning Support: Manage pre-application consultations, planning applications, and condition discharge details, ensuring prioritisation of paid services where needed.
- Local Authority Alignment: Apply or leverage knowledge of local authority policies and processes to provide accurate and relevant advice and support.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualifications: Degree in ecology or a related field, or equivalent experience; CIEMMA qualification preferred.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Environment Act and BNG requirements.
- Experience: Previous experience advising on biodiversity/ecology in a planning or development management environment; local authority experience preferred.
