Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking a Substance Misuse Team Leader to join our client's dynamic team. 

Role Overview

As a Team Leader in the Dependency and Recovery Services, you will operate within a hybrid model as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. Your role will involve in-person work and travel across probation delivery units in Greenwich and Bexley, Lewisham, and Bromley. You will be based in probation offices in Greenwich, Bexleyheath, Lewisham, and Orpington, with occasional virtual engagements.

The service aims to enhance client engagement with treatment services and bridge the gap between probation and community substance misuse services. You will manage a team of practitioners delivering Dependency and Recovery Services to adult males under probation supervision, helping them implement action plans and navigate their recovery journeys.

Your responsibilities will include providing team leadership, attending essential meetings, ensuring smooth project delivery, and promoting the services within probation offices. You will support staff development, manage referrals, handle complex cases, and ensure service quality and performance targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and People Management

  • Develop strong relationships with colleagues in Probation Delivery Units, promote the service, and offer substance misuse awareness training.
  • Act as a positive role model during periods of change.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders by representing the service at regular meetings.
  • Support direct reports with their development needs through regular line management and probation reviews.
  • Ensure interventions meet required standards by facilitating observed practice sessions and providing constructive feedback.
  • Manage team performance to maintain a positive working environment, working with HR and the Service Manager to address any concerns.
  • Lead by example in self-care and maintaining a positive attitude.

Service Management

  • Oversee effective management of assigned areas, ensuring targets and deadlines are met.
  • Compile service rotas and ensure staff are based at probation units.
  • Attend and chair team and performance meetings.
  • Encourage integrated working with partners and ensure a clinic timetable is in place at all probation offices.
  • Manage resources to meet contractual targets and obligations.
  • Undertake service delivery reviews and adaptations to ensure targets are met.
  • Ensure interventions align with service user needs and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain live records and complete necessary reports.

Quality and Safety

  • Conduct regular service audits and develop action plans to address issues and share good practices.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient data collection, recording, and collation.
  • Manage risks in liaison with the Service Manager and support quarterly Regional Governance meetings.
  • Promote health, safety, and security in the workplace, highlighting risks to the Service Manager.
  • Manage confidential information according to statutory duties and best practice.

Administration

  • Maintain case management documentation to audit standards.
  • Monitor data input to meet reporting requirements.
  • Compile data reports to evidence meeting contractual targets.
  • Complete and maintain action plans and assessments to required standards.

  • Demonstrable experience in team management, performance, and development.

  • Knowledge and experience of implementing formal procedures and policies.

  • Understanding of issues facing service users in the criminal justice sector.

Qualifications

  • A qualification in Management at Level 3 or equivalent experience in a comparable role is preferred.
