Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking a Substance Misuse Team Leader to join our client's dynamic team.

About Our Client

They are a leading social enterprise committed to empowering individuals to break free from cycles of crime and addiction, helping them build positive, productive lives. For over 25 years, they have supported thousands in making lasting changes, finding employment, reconnecting with family and friends, and becoming part of their communities.

They deliver Commissioned Rehabilitative Services (CRS) for HMPPS, including Accommodation, Dependency and Recovery, and Personal Wellbeing services across various regions in England and Wales.

Role Overview

As a Team Leader in their Dependency and Recovery Services, you will be part of a flexible, multi-disciplinary team working across Tower Hamlets, Hackney, and City probation delivery units. Based primarily in Tower Hamlets and Stoke Newington probation offices, your role will involve in-person service delivery with some virtual work.

The service aims to enhance client engagement with treatment services, bridging the gap between probation and community-based substance misuse services through practical assistance and ongoing support.

You will lead a team of practitioners providing support to adult males under probation supervision, helping them implement action plans and navigate their recovery journey. Building and maintaining strong working relationships with probation practitioners and stakeholders is crucial to this role.

Your leadership will be pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality services, managing resources, and meeting performance targets. You will also support the Service Manager in maintaining data accuracy and promoting services to meet contract volumes.

This is a predominantly Monday - Friday, 09:00 am - 17:00 pm role, with occasional flexibility required for out-of-office work and attendance at head office for training and meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and People Management: Build strong relationships with colleagues, promote the service, and offer substance misuse awareness training. Act as a positive role model and support individual development needs through regular reviews and feedback.
  • Service Management: Oversee service delivery, manage resources, and ensure compliance with contractual targets and standards. Conduct regular service audits and adapt the delivery model as needed.
  • Quality and Safety: Manage risk, ensure compliance with health, safety, and security protocols, and handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate case management documentation, monitor data input, and compile reports for commissioners.

Role Criteria

  • Demonstrable experience in team management, performance development, and motivation.
  • Strong relationship management skills, both internally and externally.
  • Knowledge of issues facing service users in the criminal justice sector.
  • Proven experience in high caseload management, risk assessments, and action planning.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, project, and time management skills.
  • A management qualification at Level 3 or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Personal experience with addiction or imprisonment is a plus but not essential.

Personal Attributes

  • Proactive and quick-thinking with high initiative.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and confident in abilities.
  • Strong team player, open to feedback, and committed to personal and professional growth.
