Location: Bury, Greater Manchester

Working Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £42,403 - £44,428 per annum

Main Duties as a Social Work Advanced Practitioner:

  • Direct Practice and Leadership: Work directly with individuals using services, their families, and communities, providing exemplary social work practice. Offer leadership and expert guidance to colleagues and other professionals in complex and challenging situations.
  • Reflective and Evidence-Based Practice: Utilise advanced critical reasoning to model and facilitate reflective, evidence-based social work practices. Provide constructive feedback to enhance practice, policies, and procedures, promoting innovation and integrating best practices.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the daily operations of the social work function within your service area, prioritising tasks and managing risks effectively. Support and guide the staff team, ensuring a responsive service that meets agreed timelines.
  • Safeguarding and Policy Adherence: Following appropriate training, offer support and advice on safeguarding matters, and chair relevant meetings in accordance with policies and procedures. Ensure that policies and procedures within your service area are current and fit for purpose.
  • Resource Management: Assist in the effective and efficient use of resources, ensuring value for money. Monitor and manage the quality and performance standards of social care staff, taking necessary actions to maintain high service quality.
  • Reporting and Communication: Produce management reports and information as required by the Service Lead or line manager. Address queries or complaints related to your service area and represent the Service Lead in meetings or multi-agency forums.
  • Staff Development and Recruitment: Act as a practice assessor for newly qualified social workers (ASYE) as needed. Assist in the recruitment, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes within your team.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure a safe working environment for all employees within your service area.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: Uphold a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, ensuring their protection from harm.

Key Requirements for this role:

  • Must possess a recognised social work qualification
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Proven experience in management and supervision of staff (desirable).
  • Comprehensive understanding of current safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure their consistent and effective application.
  • Capable of actively contributing to the creation and implementation of team and service plans.
