Job Overview:
Sanctuary Personnel are seeking a Senior Speech & Language Therapist to join our client's dynamic Learning Disabilities Service based in Jersey, Channel Islands. This role involves providing specialised services to adults with learning disabilities and associated conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of Speech and Language Therapy Services for the Adult Learning Disability Service, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and professional standards.
- Provide professional advice and guidance to senior managers on Speech and Language Therapy services for individuals with learning disabilities.
- Develop and implement strategies and policies to maintain a high-quality service in line with organisational objectives.
- Monitor and review working practices to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices.
- Manage and mentor junior team members, ensuring the delivery of responsibilities to the highest standard.
- Establish and maintain quality assurance programmes to uphold internal and external standards.
- Assess complex cases and formulate diagnoses, coordinating care within a multidisciplinary framework.
- Develop and deliver training programmes to improve understanding of client needs among staff and carers.
- Contribute to the development and review of care protocols and packages.
Qualifications:
- Degree or postgraduate diploma in Speech and Language Therapy, certified by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Postgraduate training in a specialist area or equivalent experience.
- Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council and RCSLT.
- Advanced Practitioner in Dysphagia.
Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience in a highly specialist role within Learning Disabilities.
- Specialist knowledge of AAC, Autism, Mental Health, Dysphagia, and learning disabilities.
- Proficiency in using a range of AAC devices and IT equipment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation abilities.
- Ability to analyse complex situations and make sound clinical judgments.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement.
