Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Senior Practitioner within the Children in Care & Leaving Care Team to work full time based in Guernsey.
The salary for this permanent Senior Practitioner job is up to £60,267 per annum.
Main duties:
- To have case management responsibility for a number of young people who are in care and in some cases are preparing to transition into adulthood.
- To ensure children in care and those subject to care requirements have clear plans which are progressed within agreed timescales.
- To develop care plans and pathway plans, carrying out statutory duties with children and young people to ensure their needs are being identified and suitable plans are put in place.
- To ensure risk is assessed in accordance with multi-agency child protection guidelines and procedures when rehabilitating children to their families.
- To work collaboratively alongside key partner agencies to support young people to prepare for independent living.
- To make a positive contribution to the planning and development of leaving care services.
- To work in partnership with key agencies, including the third sector to ensure the key developmental planning is done on a multi-agency basis.
- To ensure that appropriate information is shared with young people and to promote their involvement in the assessment process.
- To advocate on behalf of children in care and care leavers and ensure the voice of the young person is evident in all decision making and planning processes.
- To actively participate in reflective supervision in accordance with the children and family community services supervision policy.
- To contribute to a positive culture within the team which promotes mutual respect and good professional standards.
- To organise and attend meetings as appropriate. Knowledge of the benefits of a team around the family approach for children in care and care leavers.
Requirements of this role:
- Social work qualification with registration with Social Work England.
- Experience in managing social work caseloads and supervising others.
- Experience of community and/or group work.
- Knowledge of children’s health and social care systems, agencies, and relevant legislation.
