Salary: £33,000 - £36,000 per annum. Newly Qualified Staff Nurse: £28,407 FTE for the first 12 months post-qualification.

Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking a registered Pre-Operative Assessment Staff Nurse to join our client's exceptional team in the Outpatients department. This role involves planning and delivering high standards of clinical care, including health promotion and discharge advice for patients, in accordance with hospital guidelines and protocols. They prioritise a patient-focused approach to care.

Their Outpatient department features 31 rooms across various specialities. The available registered nurse position offers a diverse and engaging experience within a supportive large team. Clinics operate from Monday - Saturday in a busy environment, necessitating strong organisational and communication skills. Their patient-centred approach ensures a positive and safe experience, particularly when triaging patients post-clinic.

The department handles procedures such as dermatology minor surgery, patch tests, coil insertions, venepuncture, and ECGs. This role, within the Pre-Assessment team, evaluates patients' medical, social, and physical fitness for surgery, collaborating closely with a multi-disciplinary team.

About the Role

  • Act as the patient’s advocate, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective care in the preoperative environment.
  • Assist the Preoperative Assessment Lead in the efficient and effective management of the Preoperative Assessment Service.
  • Ensure patient care areas are safe, fit for purpose, and well-maintained.
  • Accurately record patient information data in the appropriate IT systems.
  • Maintain the safe custody of medications.
  • Supervise junior team members, providing clinical supervision/mentorship, and be accountable for Preoperative Assessment in the absence of the Preoperative Assessment Lead.

Skills and Experience Required

  • First level Registered Nurse, preferably with some Preoperative Assessment experience.
  • ILS training or willingness to undertake training.
  • Basic phlebotomy and ECG monitoring experience or willingness to undertake training.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to foster team collaboration in a positive and challenging culture.
  • Strong patient-centred approach.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office Suite and web-based reporting systems.
  • Commitment to professionalism and a positive team environment.
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and ethics in the workplace.
