Main Duties:

  • Support practitioners across all services in improving their practice, working closely with Social Workers to enhance skills such as Case Summary, Chronology, direct work with children, and communication with children.
  • Assist in the development and planning of effective interventions and analytical assessments that shape care plans.
  • Promote the use of practice standards in all professional activities and facilitate weekly drop-in clinics to provide targeted support for practitioners in specific areas.
  • Contribute to the development of training and learning materials that align with organisational learning and development objectives. The Slough Practice Model and Practice Standards will be integral to all training activities.
  • Engage in the auditing of social care files, ensuring that practice needs are identified and addressed through a targeted approach.
  • Provide support to various practitioner groups, recognising that specific groups, such as ASYEs or international workers, may require additional assistance.

Requirements of the Practice Improvement Mentor:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant frontline experience in Children’s Services
