Main Duties:

  • Work closely with the Principal Social Worker to advance practice improvement through targeted training and development initiatives.
  • Provide face-to-face support and learning sessions to individuals and groups, with a required on-site presence of at least three days per week.
  • Support practitioners across various services in enhancing their practice, focusing on improving the use of tools such as Case Summaries, Chronologies, direct work with children, and communication with children.
  • Assist in the development and planning of interventions, offering support and constructive challenge to ensure high-quality analytical assessments that inform care plans.
  • Promote the consistent application of practice standards throughout the organisation.
  • Facilitate weekly drop-in clinics to provide targeted support to practitioners in specific areas of practice.
  • Contribute to the creation and delivery of training and learning materials that support organisational learning and development, incorporating the Slough Practice Model and Practice Standards.
  • Participate in the auditing of social care files to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Deliver support through a targeted approach, addressing priority practice needs identified through known deficits, audits, or performance development issues within individual teams or among specific workers.
  • Collaborate with all social work practitioners across the organisation, offering additional support to specific groups such as ASYEs (Assessed and Supported Year in Employment) or international workers.

Requirements of the Practice Improvement Consultant:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant frontline experience in Children’s Services
