Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Mathematics Teacher to join our client, a prestigious school. This role involves teaching and supporting the provision of mathematics from Remove (P7) to Upper 6 (S6) with a timetable allocation of twenty-three periods a week (0.766 FTE).

Job Purpose

  • To deliver high-quality teaching in mathematics, adhering to faculty guidelines and national and school policies.
  • To contribute to the curriculum delivery under the direction of the Head of Faculty.
  • To be a proactive team player with a modern approach to teaching, including enhancing digital literacy.
  • To serve as a Form Tutor/Teacher, responsible for the pastoral care and academic progress of a group of pupils.

Key Responsibilities

To the Students:

  • Foster a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere to stimulate student interest and development.
  • Stay updated with curriculum developments, integrating changes as required.
  • Prepare lessons using resources and strategies suited to student age and ability.
  • Monitor, assess, and ensure student progress in line with national and school requirements.
  • Provide support for students with specific learning difficulties and additional support needs.
  • Encourage student confidence and responsibility in their learning.
  • Ensure appropriate provisions for students with access arrangements in exams.
  • Maintain student safety and raise awareness of relevant safety issues.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Faculty and staff to create a stimulating learning environment.
  • Participate in regular faculty meetings for communication, decision-making, and task delegation.
  • Engage in the school’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme.
  • Contribute to the co-curricular activities programme and participate in educational visits.

To the School:

  • Maintain regular communication with the Head of Faculty regarding student matters.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to uphold high behaviour standards.
  • Implement and stay informed on school policies, including health and safety, trips, curriculum, assessment, and tracking.
  • Use the School Improvement Plan for departmental planning and improvement.
  • Uphold high personal standards of punctuality, appearance, and commitment.
  • Participate in supervisory duties shared by all staff members.
  • Cover for absent colleagues as per the rota.
  • Seek authorisation for anticipated absences and provide notice for unavoidable absences due to sickness, ensuring work for classes is indicated.
  • Attend all relevant staff meetings, in-service days, and recommended training courses.
  • Attend parent/staff meetings or other student-related meetings as required.
  • Complete and oversee student reports in accordance with guidelines and deadlines.
  • Ensure the security and safe use of valuable faculty items.
  • Report any damage to departmental areas, equipment, furniture, and fittings to facilities management.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching Mathematics at secondary school level.
  • Strong understanding of the UK curriculum and assessment methods.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Proficiency in integrating digital technology into teaching.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
