Sanctuary Personnel is seeking a qualified and experienced Teacher of Children with Vision Impairment (VI) to take on a leadership role in providing high-quality support and advice to our client's schools and educational settings. You will join a dedicated team of professionals committed to supporting children and young people (aged 0-25) with sensory impairments.

In this role, you will provide expert guidance to the Sensory Service Manager and team members on best practices for educating children with VI. Proficiency in specialist technologies that help remove barriers to learning for students with VI is essential, and you must hold the Mandatory Qualification in VI. Additionally, you will manage a personal caseload, offering both advisory and direct teaching support to children with VI.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a Mandatory Qualification in Vision Impairment (QTVI).
  • Significant experience working with children and young people with vision impairments.
  • Strong understanding of specialist technologies and assistive tools used to support learning for those with VI.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise and support colleagues effectively.
  • A deep understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements, particularly within the context of sensory impairments.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of SEND policies and practices, especially as they relate to teaching and learning.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for working in various educational settings as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • A valid driver’s licence and access to a car.

You will also contribute to the development of policies and practices within the service to address evolving national and local challenges. A comprehensive understanding of safeguarding, child protection strategies, and current SEND policies and practices—particularly as they relate to sensory impairments—is crucial.

A car mileage allowance and Essential Car User Permit are provided for this role.
