About the Role:
Take on a pivotal role leading a team of Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants. You will oversee the effective assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality, holistic care for a designated group of service users. Your responsibilities will include managing performance in line with our policies and procedures, covering recruitment, induction, development, supervision, appraisal, and discipline, ensuring that all clinical staff uphold our high standards.

Main Duties:
- Lead the nursing team to enhance the quality of care, providing support and advice to colleagues and families. Delegate tasks clearly and appropriately, adhere to safe practice principles, and assess staff competence.
- Manage the care of a designated group of service users, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team, service users, and their families or carers to ensure effective care. Evaluate the impact of policy changes on care delivery.
- Work with the Head of Clinical Services or Ward Manager to assess potential service users, liaising with Health and Social Services commissioners. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans based on evidence-based guidelines.
- Maintain accurate, timely records of service user consultations in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, whether in handwritten or electronic format.
- Ensure that all clinical staff, including yourself, receive documented formal and clinical supervision in line with professional and statutory requirements. Promote and demonstrate high clinical standards, regularly monitoring staff competencies.
- Identify training needs and support staff development, promoting a learning environment where team members can benefit from each other’s experiences and external best practices.
- Provide educational support to patients, carers, families, and colleagues in a way that facilitates learning. Share knowledge through formal and informal teaching and, if qualified, mentor students, assessing their competence against set standards.
- Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and a thorough understanding.
- Contribute to the smooth and safe operation of the service by maintaining a secure working environment, protecting service user confidentiality, and taking on additional reasonable tasks as needed.
Requirements of the Clinical Team Leader:
- Registered Nurse qualification or a relevant degree.
- Experience in specialist palliative or neurological care, depending on the service’s needs.
- Proven leadership skills with a track record of building and influencing teams within a clinical environment.
- In-depth knowledge of current legislation applicable to the independent care sector.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong self-motivation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the capability to deliver difficult information to service users and their families.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in managing change and performance effectively.
- Capability to provide teaching and mentorship within a clinical setting.
