Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Senior Residential Children’s Practitioner to work full time based in King’s Lynn.

The salary for this permanent Senior Residential Children’s Practitioner job is up to £34,723 per annum.

Main duties:

  • To engage in the effective delivery of residential childcare utilising specialist knowledge for appropriate interventions, needs assessments and care planning
  • To help create a positive environment for each young person with regard to their safety, health and education and diverse needs
  • To carry out high quality assessments, use child centred and multi-agency interventions to bring about positive change through developing effective relationships, and secure the best outcomes for children and young people
  • To share social work knowledge, theory and practice with colleagues
  • To strengthen the relationships between children, young people and families wherever possible and appropriate and to complete outreach tasks where possible
  • To deliver residential childcare in accordance with Ofsted’s Social Care Inspection Framework
  • To maintain good professional practice within the homes in accordance with Departmental Standards, working as part of a team to achieve good outcomes for children and young people
  • To form effective relationships with young people and their families to ensure that: a caring environment is maintained, their emotional and physical needs are met, ‘safe care’ standards are met and opportunities for their development are maximised
  • To ensure that the young person’s views and wishes are sought and acted upon
  • To manage risk effectively, strengthen emotional resilience, and address underlying causes impacting negatively on the young people’s development
  • To attend statutory reviews and planning meetings
  • To maintain full, accurate, and up to date records in accordance with departmental practice and guidance, including the maintenance of electronic records on case management systems
  • To contribute to young people’s care plans, dynamic group risk assessments, constantly reviewing and updating them
  • To work in partnership with families/carers and all key agencies who are involved in decision making and planning by sharing information in a timely and accurate manner

Requirements of this job:

  • Have a Dip SW, CQSW, CSS or appropriate nursing qualifications
  • Have significant care experience, including direct work with disabled children
  • Be keen to support young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours as part of our new Children with Disabilities (CWD) emergency provision
  • Be required to have good levels of literacy and numeracy
  • Be able to make sound judgements under pressure and respond effectively in a crisis
  • Need to be committed to safeguarding and making a difference in the lives of young people
  • Need to be reliable, have good personal relationship and communication skills as well as high professional standards
  • Have a driving licence and access to a car
  • Be flexible to work shifts including weekends, evenings and sleep-in
