Location: Truro, Cornwall
Type: Permanent
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £53,560 per annum
Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an experienced Cardiac Physiologist to join our client and contribute to the advancement of the elective cardiology service. This role offers the chance to work in a newly refurbished cardiac cath lab equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, enabling the expansion of their services.
About Our Client
The hospital offers private and NHS services to the Cornwall population, with some services extending to Devon and beyond. It collaborates closely with local NHS providers and the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board, playing a crucial role in delivering elective cardiology services.
Besides cardiology, the hospital provides elective surgical care across various specialties, including orthopaedics, general surgery, ENT, and gynaecology. The hospital is located in the scenic county of Cornwall, offering numerous opportunities for outdoor activities and hobbies.
About the Role
The cardiology service includes a variety of outpatient clinics and diagnostic testing for both in-patients and outpatients. The lab performs procedures such as elective angiography, PCI, device implantation, cardioversion, and transoesophageal echocardiography. The upcoming refurbishment will enhance their PCI capabilities to include rotablation and shockwave procedures.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned cardiac physiologist with the ability to conduct and report their own outpatient echo clinics. Professional accreditation with BSE and/or HRUK/IBHRE is required. Proficiency in other non-invasive investigations such as stress echo, treadmills, and pacemaker follow-ups (including ILR, CRT, ICD, and brady devices) is advantageous. Additionally, while not mandatory, experience supporting cath lab lists for elective angiography, PCI, and device implant/explant is beneficial.
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, manage a team effectively, and have previous management experience. This includes overseeing staff, managing clinical activities, and communicating across disciplines, including with consultants. A willingness to learn and further develop knowledge and skills is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily management of the Cardiology Service, including managing capacity and demand, and addressing patient issues
- Supporting non-clinical staff in booking and arranging appointments, and managing stock
