Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote Independence: Support adults with disabilities to maximise their independence and quality of life by assessing needs and devising bespoke, person-centred interventions.
  • Person-Centred Approach: Use the social model of disability and evidence-based practices to deliver care that respects individual values, culture, and diversity.
  • Community Equipment & Adaptations Service: Deliver high-quality, integrated community equipment and adaptations to people in their own homes, managing a complex caseload to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Performance Focus: This is a target-driven role, where you will work towards specific performance goals, actively participating in data capture and reporting any challenges to the Deputy Principal OT/Principal OT.
  • Manual Handling Expertise: Provide expert clinical advice on manual handling, offering support to colleagues dealing with complex cases.
  • Information & Advice: Where statutory provision is not appropriate, offer guidance on self-directed support, enabling service users to take control of their care.

Requirements of the Social Services Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
  • Recent experience working as an Occupational Therapist
  • Recent experience within social services / local authority / council
  • Registered with the HCPC
