Locum Histology Biomedical Scientist in Edinburgh (United Kingdom) - Earn £40 Hourly. We are seeking two experienced Biomedical Scientists to join the dynamic histology laboratory team at NHS Lothian on an ongoing basis. What you will do:
- Perform routine histological techniques, including specimen dissection, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining (H&E and special stains).
- Conduct immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures to ensure high-quality diagnostic results.
- Undertake quality control and assurance processes in line with UKAS accreditation standards.
- Maintain and troubleshoot histology laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Participate in frozen section preparation and immunofluorescence staining, as required.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, COSHH, and laboratory regulations.
- Assist in the training and supervision of junior staff or trainees, promoting excellent laboratory practices.
- Manage specimen reception, prioritisation, and accurate data entry within the laboratory information system (LIMS).
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, liaising with pathologists and clinical staff to support exemplary patient care.
