What You Will Do:

  • Conduct specialist assessments, diagnoses, and develop tailored treatment plans for patients with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders, including individuals with complex physical, cognitive, and behavioural challenges.
  • Utilise expert clinical reasoning to set patient-focused goals and formulate treatment plans, working both individually and in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Take on a key-worker role for specific patients, ensuring continuity of care, smooth transitions during admission and discharge, and clear communication with care managers.
  • Advocate for patients with complex communication impairments, supporting them in understanding and consenting to treatment options.
  • Provide guidance and support to families and carers, discussing the implications of Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) diagnoses and treatment.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registration is required.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in Speech & Language Therapy.
  • Car driving is preferable, due to the nature of the role.
