Your role as an Addictions Counsellor will include:

  • Delivering therapeutic support through group sessions and one-on-one interventions.
  • Collaborating with probation officers and healthcare professionals to conduct regular client reviews.
  • Conducting assessments of clients and counselling them on substance use and its impact.
  • Helping individuals address their substance use and related behaviours.
  • Maintaining accurate records of client attendance, participation, and progress.
  • Supporting clients through detoxification and stabilisation using a range of therapeutic techniques.
  • Ensuring all documentation, case reports, and administrative duties are kept up to date.
  • Responding to client needs with compassion and flexibility.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with substance misuse clients – you’ll have at least two years of direct client work experience, with at least one year specifically in a therapeutic setting.
  • Counselling qualification: Level 4 or higher.
  • Experience in developing and delivering therapeutic support programmes and providing assessments and group therapy.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage sessional staff, volunteers, and clients effectively.
  • Proven ability to work in partnership with statutory and non-statutory agencies.
  • A flexible, open approach to client care, with a commitment to high standards.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations.
