Sanctuary Personnel, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency with a TrustPilot score of 4.9/5 and over 400+ reviews is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Specialist Occupational Therapist to work in Cleveland Clinic, London on a full-time basis.
The salary for this permanent Specialist Occupational Therapist job is £54,000 - £57,000 per annum.
Main Duties:
- Assist in operational management and deliver occupational therapy with advanced assessment, management and clinical reasoning to neurosciences patients, including linking in with the wider MDT.
- Provide and act as a source of clinical expertise in the occupational therapy management of neurological patients to MDT, deputising for occupational leads as required.
- Educate and train occupational therapists and other MDT members with innovation and passion around neurological care, the role of occupational therapy and rehabilitation.
- Take a proactive lead in using routine outcome measures to improve patient care.
- Provide highly supportive supervision and coaching to other therapists.
- Keep informed of evidence, changes to practice, relevant research and guidance to discuss at regular opportunities to progress and develop own / MDT practice.
- Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, ensuring a high standard of care and actively encourages and motivates others to do the same.
- Be part of the weekend staffing provision as per service requirements
- Identify areas of research and quality improvement priorities in neurological occupational therapy to add to wider occupational therapy development strategies.
- Assist in identification, mitigation and management of risks as part of clinical governance.
- To be able to lead and assist in rehabilitation / manual handling of complex and potentially dependent patients with appropriate equipment and compliance with manual handling policies.
- To work in an inpatient environment with potential interruptions such as acutely deteriorating patients requiring urgent review, emotionally challenging scenarios requiring intense focus and frequent exposure to potentially unpleasant materials such as bodily fluids.
Requirements of the Specialist Occupational Therapist:
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT) desirable
- Membership of special interest group desirable
- Post-graduation experience and education and training in neuro-rehabilitation and neurosurgery, including the assessment and treatment of cognition
- Evidence of training / experience in appraisal, supervision of therapists/students
- Evidence of continuous professional / academic development relevant to clinical field
- Evidence of training / experience in basic research skills ( critical appraisal, literature reviews)
