Shift Pattern: Full time, 08:00 am - 20:00 pm, 7 days per week as per rostering system 
Salary: £59,717 - £65,805 per annum

Job Overview:

Sanctuary Personnel are seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist Senior II for a rotational role. This position offers the opportunity to manage a defined caseload, providing evidence-based, client-centred Occupational Therapy. Your interventions will include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, carried out in various settings such as hospitals, community environments, and home visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a defined caseload, delivering evidence-based Occupational Therapy following client-centred principles.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the outcomes of interventions, documenting all stages of the process.
  • Develop skills and knowledge through participation in the Preceptorship Programme and other post-graduate opportunities.
  • Participate effectively as a full member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the education of occupational therapy students.

Job Specific Outcomes:

  • Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team, establishing effective relationships with colleagues to benefit client treatment in each setting.
  • Provide support, advice, and education to relatives and carers of clients.
  • Review and reflect on own practice and performance through professional and operational supervision and the Personal Development Review process.
  • Maintain a professional portfolio for continuing professional development in accordance with Health Professions Council Standards of Practice.
  • Participate in the delivery of service improvement plans for occupational therapy.
  • Plan and provide appropriate therapy services for clients referred, in consultation with users, carers, and the clinical team.
  • Work in accordance with local and Royal College of Occupational Therapy policies and procedures.
  • Plan, evaluate, and audit practice, clinical pathways, and protocols in conjunction with senior staff as required by the service and Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
  • Respond promptly to referrals according to clinical area referral priorities and procedures.
  • Use a recovery-based approach and be socially inclusive in practice.
  • Liaise closely with other disciplines and agencies to ensure clients’ ongoing and additional needs are met.
  • Transfer knowledge and experience of physical health problems and their treatments into the mental health setting and vice versa.
  • Promote the welfare and safeguarding of children, young people, and adults, accessing training and supervision as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the induction, training, and education of occupational therapy students, staff, volunteers, and visitors as required.
  • Actively participate in a Personal Development Review (appraisal) and the development and implementation of a personal development plan.
  • Ensure professional standards are maintained and statutory and mandatory training is up to date.
  • Ensure concerns are responded to appropriately in line with safeguarding policies and interagency procedures.

Person Specification:

  • Flexibility in work setting and prioritising tasks with competing demands from staff and clients.
  • Independent working and use of initiative within professional guidelines, with regular supervision from a line manager or Senior Occupational Therapist.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Qualification (Degree or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy
  • Professional Registration with HCPC
  • RCOT membership

Knowledge:

  • Understanding the legal responsibilities of the profession
  • Awareness of assessing, managing, and preventing risk in the working environment
  • Knowledge of clinical governance principles and their application
  • Familiarity with practice standards and the Code of Conduct of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and HCPC standards
  • Specialist knowledge of OT assessment and intervention relevant to the client group
  • Ability to work within organisational policies and meet the diverse needs of patients

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to keep accurate and legible patient records in English
  • IT literacy
  • Ability to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and manage stressful, emotional, or aggressive situations empathetically
