Pay Rate: £27.68 per hour (assignment rate)

Duties:

  • Provide guidance, training, and support to improve the professional network’s skills in working with adolescents and/or young adults
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with professionals, children and young people and their families to facilitate their engagement in activities, plans and programmes to help them realise their potential
  • Be the key point of contact for young adults aged 18-25 who are at medium to high risk of harm, including from exploitation and serious violence
  • Work with each young adult finding, and supporting them to access, opportunities and interventions to meet their needs and aspirations
  • Deliver direct work to a small caseload of vulnerable young people, this will be trauma informed and with clinical support from Your Choice and Vanguard
  • Respond to individual young people, groups of young people, and communities/locations when they need it and as identified and directed by colleagues within the Contextual Safeguarding Hub – this may involve working some weekends, evenings, as well as office hours
  • Work collaboratively with youth workers across Lambeth to develop, and deliver exciting new ideas and activities to improve outcomes for young people, and deliver face to face outreach work
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to identify the needs of children and young people and support the delivery of personal development and safety plans
  • Quality assure, monitor and evaluate activities, practice and outcomes, in consultation with children, young people, their families and professionals
  • Make appropriate referrals to support services such as Early Help, Education, CAMHS and SaLT
  • Ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion is central to the development of work undertaken and to actively engage in reflection and continuing professional development to ensure practice is trauma responsive and anti-oppressive
  • Provide children and young people with a role model to form a constructive working relationship that supports the child/young person develop social and personal skills
  • Promote positive learning experiences through the delivery of training programmes and supporting children/young people into education
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary Contextual Safeguarding Hub and multi-agency teams around a child, group, or location to support the delivery of targeted interventions aimed at reducing harm and building safety for children, young people and the contexts they spend their time in

Requirements of the Senior Contextual Safeguarding Key Worker:

  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of current legislation and issues relating to children, young people & families including children/young people who offend e.g., Children Act, various criminal justice
  • Demonstrable experience of working with children & families, including adolescents
  • Some experience working with children/ young people who have been at risk of, or experienced extra-familial harm
  • Experience and ability to communicate effectively with children, young people, and families, both individually and in group settings
  • recognised JNC Youth Work qualification or equivalent
